Dr. Samir Shah was born and raised in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and has built a distinguished career marked by academic excellence, clinical leadership, and a passion for patient care. He graduated with Highest Distinction from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, earning his bachelor’s degree in Biology, and went on to attend Wayne State University School of Medicine in Detroit, where he graduated at the top of his class.
Following medical school, Dr. Shah completed his internship at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston. He then pursued his Neurology residency and a fellowship in Vascular Neurology at UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles, followed by a fellowship in Clinical Neurophysiology/Epilepsy at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas.
Since joining Neurology Consultants of Dallas in 2008, Dr. Shah has dedicated his practice to the full spectrum of neurological conditions, with a focus on hospital neurology, stroke and other vascular brain diseases, and epilepsy. In addition to his clinical work, he has served as the Medical Director of the Stroke Program at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas since 2012, where he has led initiatives to improve outcomes for stroke patients across North Texas.
Dr. Shah has been recognized with numerous academic and teaching honors, including early election into the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society during medical school. His peers selected him as Physician of the Year in 2021 at Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital of Dallas, underscoring his commitment to excellence and compassionate care. He remains actively involved in teaching and frequently delivers scholarly lectures and presentations.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Shah enjoys traveling, discovering new cuisines (especially spicy food), and spending time with his family.
